Fine Lines and Wrinkles

What Are Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Fine lines and wrinkles are visible creases and folds that form on the skin, often as a result of the natural ageing process. Fine lines are typically shallow and develop first, appearing around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Wrinkles are deeper and more pronounced, often becoming more noticeable with age.

What Causes Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines and wrinkles are caused by a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors:
- Intrinsic Ageing: This is the natural ageing process that occurs over time. As we age, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases, leading to a loss of elasticity and firmness. Additionally, the skin’s ability to retain moisture diminishes, resulting in dryness and the formation of fine lines.
- Extrinsic Ageing: External factors such as prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, smoking, pollution, and repetitive facial expressions can accelerate the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. UV light, in particular, breaks down collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, while smoking reduces blood flow to the skin, depriving it of essential nutrients and oxygen.
